COVID-19 Testing FAQ's

If your test result is positive, you must self-isolate immediately and inform your healthcare provider of your result.

  • If you had a test because you had symptoms, self-isolate for at least 10 days from when your symptoms started.
  • If you had a test but have not had symptoms, self-isolate for 10 days from when you had the test.

If you test positive, we are legally bound to pass your details onto Public Health England as it is a notifiable disease.

If you develop emergency warning signs for COVID-19 seek medical attention immediately. Emergency warning signs include*:

  • Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
  • Persistent pain or pressure in the chest
  • New confusion or inability to arouse
  • Bluish lips or face

*This list is not all inclusive. Please consult your medical provider for any other symptoms that are severe or concerning.

If you order on a weekday morning (excluding bank holidays) prior to 13:00, a test will be with you by the following day. If you then do the test on the same day and send it back via the Priority Post box service, the test will be received by the lab the following day. The lab will then confirm a result within 36 hours.

Total time from ordering until result would therefore be 84 hours (3.5 days).

Tests orders received after 13:00 will be dispatched the following day.

Orders received on a Saturday by 10:00 will be dispatched the same day and you should expect delivery on Monday. Orders after that time will be dispatched on Monday and will arrive on Tuesday.

All carriage times are estimates based on our previous experience with Royal Mail. Test to You are not liable for any delays caused by Royal Mail.

Self-swab PCR tests are not a indication of immunity or antibodies.

Our testing lab partners will be closed on some dates over Christmas and New Year. The last date to post your test prior to Christmas is the 22nd of December so that it will arrive on the 23rd. The last date to post your test prior to New Year’s Eve is the 29th.

The lab will be closed on the following dates:

  • Christmas Eve (24th December) Open for results only
  • Christmas Day (25th December)
  • Boxing Day (26th December)
  • New Years Eve (31st December) Open for results only
  • New Years Day (1st January)
  • 2nd January
  • 3rd January

Normal service will resume from the 4th of January. During this period please note that there may be some delays in accordance to lab opening times.

There is a limit of 10 tests per order when ordering online. You can order as many times as you would like or alternatively, please contact customercare@testtoyou.co.uk who will work with you to make appropriate arrangements.

We would be very happy to discuss any requirements for corporate testing with you. As this is a popular service, we would need a minimum of 48 hours. Please contact customercare@testtoyou.co.uk to discuss any requirements.

Test to You PCR tests are suitable for use on children of ages 3 and up. Whilst the swabs are suitable for use, you may want to seek the advice and support of a healthcare professional when testing young children.

Yes – if you would prefer to arrange your own courier or take the test to the laboratory yourself to cut down on waiting time then you are welcome to. If you decide to do this, please email customercare@testtoyou.co.uk so that the team are aware.

Unfortunately we cannot offer a refund on unused tests as the swab kit is deemed void once it has left our premises.

All data is dealt with in compliance with current GDPR guidelines. Test to You is a trading name of Lovelace Events Ltd who are registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office.

We are legally bound to provide personal details of positive test cases to Public Health England. In order to do this, we will share the information with the laboratory who will then pass this information on to PHE.

Your personal data will never be used for marketing purposes without your prior consent. We will use your information to communicate with you regarding your order and all data is kept on file for up to two years unless you ask us to delete the information prior to that. Tests can be ordered up to 7 days in advance (this is highly recommended when you are travelling). From date of dispatch from Test To You you will have 7 days to return the test to the lab (the pre-paid postage is valid for 7 days).

If you miss the 7 day deadline you can still use the test kit and send it back to the lab for testing, but you will need to pay for an additional Track 24 postage label at your expense.

All medical products used by Test To You are registered with the MHRA and are CE approved.

We hold copies of all relevant documentation for all our healthcare professionals and for the laboratories that we use.

Currently we are only offering services to mainland Great Britain, including England, Scotland and Wales.
